Green joined the NBA G League Ignite, a development squad associated with the NBA G League, on April 16, 2020, under a one-year, $500,000 contract. Green became the first player ever to be picked out of the G-League when he was chosen by the Houston Rockets with the second overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft. He was selected Rookie of the Month for March and April at the end of the rookie year. Averaging 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists, he earned a spot for the NBA All-Rookie First Team.
