High School Career
Maxey was a standout shooting guard at South Garland High School. Among his remarkable performances was a spectacular 46-point game in the semifinals of the state championship. Maxey chose to finish his high school career, even though he was thinking about making an early entry into the NBA following the 2018 season. He finished with great averages and titles like McDonald’s All-American and Texas Mr. Basketball. The 2019 Texas 6A Region II tournament finals marked the apex of South Garland’s quest, as Maxey’s 25 points were unable to secure victory against Klein Forest High School.
Collegiate Career
After breaking the record with 26 points in just 26 minutes off the bench against Michigan State, Tyrese Maxey’s college debut for Kentucky at Madison Square Garden was an absolute triumph.
